ChatGPT Ads with Odoo attribution: every expense and every lead in your CRM
Transgenia helps you open your advertiser account, sets up the measurement pixel, UTM attribution, the conversion event and your first ChatGPT Ads campaign (ads inside ChatGPT), and brings every expense and every lead into your Odoo CRM. You buy the media in your own ads.openai.com account; we measure and report, without promising results.
Definition
What is ChatGPT Ads?
Verifiable fact: according to OpenAI, as of September 23, 2026 ChatGPT Ads is available in more than 60 countries and ads are shown only to users on the Free and Go plans; Plus, Pro and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free (OpenAI, ChatGPT Ads expands to Southeast Asia and Taiwan). Mexico is listed as a launched market in the August 11, 2026 update to Testing ads in ChatGPT (OpenAI).
On this page we use the product name, ChatGPT Ads, and the tool name, Ads Manager, as they appear in OpenAI's developer documentation (developers.openai.com/ads). Transgenia is an independent provider: we configure and measure on top of the platform; we do not operate or represent it.
Eligibility and audience
Who can advertise in ChatGPT, and who sees the ads?
Before opening an account, three questions are worth answering: whether your company can advertise, whether your industry is allowed, and whether your customer uses ChatGPT on a plan that shows ads. The table summarizes what OpenAI publishes as of October 1, 2026.
| Question | Answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Who can advertise? | Eligible businesses through self-service in Ads Manager, in addition to OpenAI's Ads Solutions team, agency partners and technology partners. | Source: OpenAI, September 23, 2026 (ChatGPT Ads expands to Southeast Asia and Taiwan). |
| Who sees the ads? | Only users on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro and Enterprise remain ad-free. | Source: OpenAI, September 23, 2026 (same announcement). |
| Age? | During its test, OpenAI does not show ads on accounts where the user states, or the system predicts, that they are under 18. | Source: OpenAI, Testing ads in ChatGPT. |
| In which countries? | In more than 60 countries after adding Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan. | Source: OpenAI, September 23, 2026 (ChatGPT Ads expands to Southeast Asia and Taiwan). |
| And Mexico? | Listed as a launched market in the August 11, 2026 update, together with the United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan and South Korea; OpenAI's help center lists Mexico as available for self-service Ads Manager. | Source: OpenAI, Testing ads in ChatGPT, August 11, 2026 update; OpenAI help center, Ads Manager Availability. |
| Who opens the account? | The client creates and verifies its own advertiser account and then invites its agency or consultancy. Agencies creating accounts on behalf of clients is not supported. | Source: OpenAI help center, Ads Manager Beta Account Setup. |
| Allowed industries? | Early phase: household and consumer goods, local services, travel and entertainment, digital products and education. Outside the United States, financial and healthcare services are generally prohibited and legal services are currently prohibited. | Source: OpenAI, ad policies, September 10, 2026. |
| Approval? | Account verification, account approval, ad review and delivery are separate checks; OpenAI may decline, restrict or remove advertisers for any reason. | Source: OpenAI help center, Troubleshooting common onboarding and policy issues; ad policies, September 10, 2026. |
What this means for B2B: if your buyer uses Plus, Pro or Enterprise, they will not see your ad; that is why the diagnostic reviews how your customers use ChatGPT. If your company is a private clinic, your industry is today generally prohibited outside the United States under OpenAI's ad policies of September 10, 2026; if you sell to B2B trading companies, your buyer is likely on a paid plan, and we check that in the diagnostic. In both cases we say so before you open the account.
How it works
How does a ChatGPT Ads campaign work?
There are no exact-match keywords. The advertiser sets the objective, context hints and daily spend; OpenAI's system decides when and to whom the ad is shown.
- Objective and billing. There are three objectives: Views, billed per 1,000 impressions served; Clicks, billed per valid click; and Conversions, billed per valid click (oCPC) or per 1,000 impressions served (oCPM). You never pay per conversion (OpenAI help center, Create campaigns for ChatGPT Ads).
- Daily minimum. There is no documented minimum account commitment; the only published floor is the minimum daily spend per campaign, which depends on the billing currency: 150 MXN for accounts billed in Mexican pesos and 25 USD in US dollars (same article).
- Context hints. They inform how relevant the ad is to the conversation; they are not exact-match keywords and do not ensure delivery (OpenAI help center, Create ad groups for ChatGPT Ads).
- Delivery. OpenAI's system controls all delivery decisions (OpenAI, New ways to buy ChatGPT Ads). No outside provider, Transgenia included, can force an impression.
- Review. Every ad goes through review before it is served (statuses in_review, approved and rejected), and the account verification review may take up to 7 business days; passing one stage does not pass the others (OpenAI help center, Troubleshooting common onboarding and policy issues).
- Truthfulness. Ads must be truthful: no unfounded claims about capabilities, pricing, outcomes or affiliations, and no exaggerated results (OpenAI, ad policies, September 10, 2026). We write every ad to that standard.
On the ad format and its position inside ChatGPT we claim nothing we cannot cite: OpenAI defines it and it may change. What we do control is the destination URL, the measurement and what happens after the click.
Measurement
How is a conversion from ChatGPT Ads measured?
In short: when someone clicks your ad, OpenAI tags that click in the URL, a small piece of code on your site records it only with consent and, if that person fills in your form, the lead stays tied to the campaign. For this the platform offers five measurement pieces; we describe them as OpenAI documents them.
- Measurement pixel. A small piece of code on your site (in OpenAI's terms, a browser SDK) that records website events attributable to ads in ChatGPT (developers.openai.com/ads/measurement-pixel). In our implementation it loads only when the visitor accepts the marketing category in the cookie banner; when consent is withdrawn, pending measurements are discarded and stored data is cleared.
- Click reference (oppref). On click, OpenAI appends the oppref parameter to the destination URL; the pixel captures it and stores it in a first-party cookie on your site to associate it with later conversions, and it can be included in Conversions API calls (OpenAI help center, Conversion measurement).
- URL parameters and UTM. Ads Manager lets you add parameters to the destination URL, with your own text or with variables the platform fills in at delivery, such as {campaign_id}, {ad_group_id}, {ad_id} and {ad_account_id} (OpenAI help center, Measure results). That is how the UTM values your CRM later reads are carried; parameters set on the ad URL take precedence over those set at the ad, ad group and campaign level.
- Conversion event. The account uses a conversion event supported by the platform, for example lead_created, connected to an active conversion source; in addition, an account does not serve ads until OpenAI approves its brand review (developers.openai.com/ads/api-partner-setup).
- Conversions API and deduplication. It sends conversions from the server. If the same conversion is sent through the pixel and the API, the same identifier is reused (event_id in the pixel, id in the API) and OpenAI keeps the first event and discards the duplicates (developers.openai.com/ads/conversions-api).
On timing: current-day metrics are preliminary and current-day and current-month reports may include incomplete periods, according to the platform's reporting documentation (developers.openai.com/ads/reporting), so we do not read a recent zero as failure or as success. Attribution windows and report refresh times are defined by OpenAI; when we cite them, we point to the help center article and do not present them as our own measurement. We apply the same standard to our visibility in AI assistants: read how we measure AI search visibility.
What we do
What does Transgenia do for your ChatGPT Ads account?
Four packages, each with a verifiable deliverable. You open and pay for your own advertiser account; we join as guests, configure, measure and connect it to Odoo. The exact scope is defined after a diagnostic.
Three principles of the service.
- The account, the data and the billing are yours; we join as guests.
- Every expense and every lead stays in your Odoo, not in a third party's report.
- We publish what we measure in our own pilot, zeros included.
1. Eligibility diagnostic and preparation
We review your industry, country of registration, your customers' plans and the state of your website. We tell you whether you can advertise today and what is missing: landing page, cookie consent, form and CRM fields. If you are not eligible, we say so before you spend.
2. Launch: account, pixel, UTM, event and first campaign
We walk you through opening and verifying your account, install the pixel with consent, define the UTM values, activate the conversion event and publish the first campaign with ads written under OpenAI's truthfulness policies.
3. Odoo attribution: module, reconciliation and dashboard
We install in your Odoo a module of our own, built on Odoo 19, that imports spend, impressions and clicks with read-only calls, reconciles leads with the ChatGPT source by UTM and shows everything in a permission-controlled dashboard. With no real data, the dashboard says "No data", not zero.
4. Monthly measurement lab and report
Each month we propose variants of context hints and ad copy; you decide which to publish and how much to invest in your own account. We document what changed and deliver a report with figures from the platform and from the CRM, zeros included. We do not run your media or promise impressions, clicks or leads; we promise to measure.
Timing and fees. The timeline of each package is agreed in writing in the diagnostic. Launch depends on account verification, which OpenAI decides and which may take up to 7 business days according to its help center. Fees are per package, separate from your media investment, and provided in writing after the diagnostic.
This offer is part of our AI implementation and rests on the same technical base as the MCP Transgenia Odoo: real data, controlled actions and human review before every output.
Odoo attribution
How does every expense and every lead from ChatGPT Ads reach your Odoo?
In short: when someone clicks your ad and fills in your form, the lead enters your CRM tagged as ChatGPT, with its campaign, after human review. Separately, every day a module brings into your Odoo how much you spent and how many impressions and clicks there were. The dashboard shows both side by side. They are two independent flows: neither validates the other, and we show it that way.
- Flow 1: ad, website, form, CRM. The visitor clicks the ad and lands on your site with the UTM values and the oppref reference. If they accept the marketing category in the cookie banner, those parameters are kept in the browser session for 24 hours, only those with a known name and format are accepted, and they travel with the contact form submission to the internal email, in a block at the top of the message. From there they are recorded in the Odoo CRM as the lead's source, medium and campaign, with human review. Without consent, the email is identical to the usual one, and a legitimate lead never fails because of attribution.
- Flow 2: read API, ERP, dashboard. A module of our own for Odoo 19 reads spend, impressions and clicks from your ad account with read-only calls, with a prior dry run that writes no data, only closed hours in the account's time zone, and currency and time zone taken from the account itself. Every import leaves a run record, can be repeated without duplicating, and has a rollback that archives what was created and restores what was updated without deleting data.
What you see in your Odoo.
- On every lead with the ChatGPT source: source, medium and campaign, reconciled daily by UTM with a scheduled job, per campaign and per creation day; leads with a lost reason do not count.
- On the dashboard: spend, impressions, clicks and leads side by side, with access controlled by permission group; until there is real data, it says "No data", not zero.
- Reconciliation uses only sources, mediums and campaigns that already exist in your CRM and never creates new records.
Consent first. No contact data or attribution parameter is sent to the pixel or exposed in the URL; our implementation supplies no user fields to the pixel. Attribution is data declared by the browser and we treat it as such: declared, not verified. Each capture receives a unique random value that travels with the form and is used as the lead event identifier (event_id), so the platform can deduplicate if the same event is later sent from the server.
Limited access. The technical account that imports metrics only sees the metrics models; it does not see CRM, sales, invoices, payments or accounting. Test data is flagged and excluded from the indicators. Odoo is not a ChatGPT Ads integration partner: OpenAI announced HubSpot as its first CRM partner on September 16, 2026 (OpenAI, Reimagining advertising with AI). This attribution is an integration built by Transgenia with pixel, UTM, conversion event and CRM loading; sending conversions from the server is a later phase and is not active in our pilot. Our lab
What does our own ChatGPT Ads pilot record?
Before offering this service we tested it in our own company. We publish here the real state as of the cutoff date, with no investment figures and no account, campaign or pixel data, and we will update it when the pilot closes.
Cutoff: October 1, 2026. We opened an advertiser account in the company's name; it passed identity review, was approved and has billing fully set up. We configured the measurement pixel with consent, UTM capture on the contact form and a module of our own that brings spend, impressions, clicks and leads together in our Odoo. The test campaign has been active since September 30, 2026 at 08:00 Mexico City time, with the ad approved and the platform's diagnostics showing no delivery issues. As of the cutoff, the daily report for September 30 is complete with 0 impressions and 0 clicks and no spend recorded; the hourly report for October 1 covers only the first hour, also at zero. Since more than 24 hours have passed since launch, we are preparing to escalate the case with the platform's support, following its guide (OpenAI help center, Troubleshooting common issues). There is not yet any lead attributed end to end.
What comes next in the pilot.
- Response from the platform's support on the absence of delivery.
- First week of leads recorded in the CRM with human review.
- Update of this section with the real figures at close, zeros included.
All development was tested locally without sending real emails, ad events or leads to production. We do not promise results: we measure and show what happens. That is how we run the rest of the company too, as we explain in how Transgenia operates with governed AI agents.
Honest scope
What do we not do, and what does the platform not assure?
Transgenia is not a media agency. We do not buy media for you, we do not manage your advertising money, and we do not operate an agency account over yours. You open, verify and pay for your own account at ads.openai.com and invite us into it; that is how the Ads Manager onboarding process works and how we protect your ownership of the data. We do not decide how much you invest in media; that decision and its configuration stay in your account.
We do not promise impressions, clicks or leads. OpenAI's system controls all delivery decisions, and OpenAI may decline, restrict or remove advertisers and refuse to display ads for any reason, including its business interests or competitive position. Account and ad approval is decided by OpenAI and is not assured. Our own pilot, with account and ad approved, recorded 0 impressions as of the October 1, 2026 cutoff.
Ads reach only Free and Go users. If your buyer uses Plus, Pro or Enterprise, they will not see your ad. We say so in the diagnostic, not after the invoice.
Industries not eligible today. Outside the United States, financial and healthcare services are generally prohibited and legal services are currently prohibited, under OpenAI's ad policies of September 10, 2026. We do not open accounts to get around that rule.
Independence notice. Transgenia is an independent provider. ChatGPT, ChatGPT Ads, Ads Manager and OpenAI are trademarks of OpenAI; this service is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by OpenAI. Our OpenAI Select Partner badge is a company-level credential within a program for building and delivering AI solutions; it grants no access, approval or special terms in ChatGPT Ads. Frequently asked questions
Real questions about ChatGPT Ads in Mexico
Sourced answers, drawn from what companies evaluating ads in ChatGPT ask and from what we saw in our own pilot.
Can a company registered in Mexico already advertise in ChatGPT?
Yes. OpenAI recorded on August 11, 2026 that ChatGPT Ads had launched in Mexico, together with the United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan and South Korea, and advertisers registered in Mexico can open a self-service account through Ads Manager. Your own company creates and verifies the account, and OpenAI decides the approval of the account and of each ad.
How much does advertising in ChatGPT cost, and is there a minimum investment for an SMB?
There is no documented minimum account commitment; the only published floor is the minimum daily spend per campaign, which depends on the billing currency: 150 MXN for accounts billed in Mexican pesos and 25 USD in US dollars, according to the article Create campaigns for ChatGPT Ads in OpenAI's help center. You pay per 1,000 impressions or per valid click, never per conversion. Transgenia's fees are defined after the diagnostic, separate from media.
Will my customers who pay for ChatGPT Plus or Enterprise see my ad?
No. According to OpenAI, as of September 23, 2026 ads are shown only to users on the Free and Go plans; Plus, Pro and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free. For a B2B company this matters: if your buyer uses Plus, Pro or Enterprise, they will not see the campaign. That is why the diagnostic reviews who your buyer is and how they use ChatGPT before recommending any investment.
How do I know which leads came from ChatGPT, and how do I get them into my Odoo CRM?
With UTM values in the ad URL, the measurement pixel and the oppref click reference that OpenAI appends to the destination URL. In our implementation those parameters are captured with marketing consent, travel with the form submission and are recorded in the Odoo CRM, with human review, as the lead's source, medium and campaign. A module of our own reconciles them daily by UTM and shows them next to spend on a dashboard.
Is ChatGPT Ads worth it for a B2B SMB in Mexico?
It depends on your buyer and your industry, and today we have no results of our own to prove it: our pilot, with account and ad approved, recorded 0 impressions as of the October 1, 2026 cutoff. Ads reach only Free and Go users. If your industry is eligible and your buyer uses the free plan or Go, finding out costs the minimum daily spend per campaign plus the diagnostic; with that you decide on your own data.
How does ChatGPT decide who sees my ad if there are no keywords?
Through context hints and OpenAI's delivery system. Context hints inform how relevant the ad is to the conversation; they are not exact-match keywords and do not ensure delivery, according to the article Create ad groups for ChatGPT Ads in OpenAI's help center. OpenAI's system controls all delivery decisions. In the monthly lab we propose variants; you decide which to publish and we document what changed, without promising impressions.
My account and my ad are approved but I have had 0 impressions for days: what do I check, and when do I escalate?
First confirm the four checks: account verification, account approval, ad review and delivery are separate, and completing one does not complete the others. Then review the platform's diagnostics and remember that current-day metrics are preliminary. If more than 24 hours pass without delivery, the guide Troubleshooting common issues in OpenAI's help center allows you to escalate with support; that is what we are preparing for our own pilot.
Can Transgenia open the advertiser account for me?
No, and no agency can. The article Ads Manager Beta Account Setup in OpenAI's help center states that agencies creating advertiser accounts on behalf of a client is not supported: the client creates and verifies its own account and then invites the agency. We walk you through every step of onboarding, join as guests, and the account, the data and the billing stay in your name.
How long until spend and conversions appear in the report?
There is no deadline we can promise: current-day metrics are preliminary and may include incomplete periods according to the platform's reporting documentation, and attribution windows and report refresh times are defined by OpenAI in the article Measure results in its help center. A recent zero is not read as failure or as success, and our module imports only closed hours in your account's time zone.
Is my industry allowed in ChatGPT Ads if I am a clinic, a financial firm or a law firm in Mexico?
Today, generally, no. Under OpenAI's ad policies of September 10, 2026, outside the United States ads for financial and healthcare services are generally prohibited and legal services are currently prohibited. The early phase covers household and consumer goods, local services, travel and entertainment, digital products and education, with expansion planned. We review this in the diagnostic before opening the account.
